Our trip to Maras and Moray will begin with pick-up from your hotel in the historic center of the city, between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning. From this point, we will head towards the Sacred Valley, a place steeped in history and natural wonders. The first destination on our list is the archaeological site of Moray, located north of the city of Maras. Moray is characterized by its impressive circular platforms that, during the Inca era, played a crucial role as an innovative agricultural laboratory. Here, the Incas experimented with a variety of agricultural products, taking advantage of the climatic and altitudinal diversity of the terraces to improve their crops and cultivation techniques.
Continuing our immersion in the history and nature of the Sacred Valley, we will head towards the Salineras de Maras, an impressive spectacle of human skill and natural beauty. These salt mines are unique formations, composed of thousands of white wells arranged on terraced platforms, creating a landscape resembling a sea of snow. It is important to note that these salt mines have been used for millennia, even before the height of the Inca Empire, and continue to be a vital source of salt for local inhabitants to this day.
We conclude our journey back to Cusco, around 3:00 in the afternoon.
